What is Autism?

Autism is a severely incapacitating, lifelong developmental disability usually appearing within the first three years of life. It is a biologically based disorder, which means, no known factors in the psychological environment of a child have been shown to cause autism. However, the biological pinpoint of the disability to date has not been identified. A significant amount of research is being done to come to some resolve on the origin of this disorder. This disorder effects many components of an individual including: sensory, cognitive, social and language.
